It was another strong and consistent week for the Murray Bridge training ranks, with winners flowing across multiple venues and a standout performance on the home track on Friday. From dominant victories to tight finishes, local stables showcased both depth and quality, carrying that momentum through to metropolitan success at Morphettville and a winning double at Port Augusta to round out the weekend.
Friday at the Home Track:
Kicking off the meeting, Dan Clarken & Oopy MacGillivray’s Like A Drifter produced a dominant performance in Race One, surging clear to win by 3.99 lengths under Tala Hutchinson. Camooweal Girl (Kristi Evans) finished second with Todd Pannell aboard, followed by Veloce Girl for David Aldridge and Rochelle Milnes, while Willebob (Sarah Rutten) rounded out the top four.
In Race Five, Mick Huxtable’s Innominate secured a tidy 0.75 length victory, with Alysha Warren guiding the winner home.
Race Seven saw Sophie Logan’s Serinite Illusion prove too strong, holding off the field to win by 1.26 lengths under Jason Holder. France’s Boy, trained by John Hickmott & Carrina Riggs, filled second placing.
The final local success came in Race Nine, where Paul Carey’s Lomax finished powerfully to claim a 0.9 length win with Campbell Rawiller aboard.
Morphettville on Saturday:
Garret Lynch struck early on the metropolitan card, with Alainge narrowly taking out Race One in a tight 0.24 length finish, ridden by Sairyn Fawke.
Later in the day, Dan Clarken & Oopy MacGillivray added to their weekend success as Mating Call, piloted by Emily Finnegan, fought hard to secure a 0.5 length victory in Race Nine, the first Group Three winner for Emily Finnegan.
Port Augusta on Sunday:
Garret Lynch capped off a strong week with a double at Port Augusta. Holder Maid, ridden by Tala Hutchinson, took out Race Three in convincing fashion by 2.73 lengths.
The stable followed up in Race Five, where Lady Memphis delivered a thrilling finish to win by the narrowest of margins, 0.09 lengths, again with Hutchinson aboard.
