THOMAS FARMS RACECOURSE MURRAY BRIDGE
Our history
Founded in 1899, Murray Bridge Racing Club held its first official race meeting in Hartmann’s Paddock at Monarto near the railway siding. After a short break the club moved to its former facility on Maurice Road Murray Bridge. For over a century, it was a cornerstone of regional racing. In 2019, the Club proudly opened the new world-class Thomas Farms Racecourse at Gifford Hill — just 5km from the scenic Murray River — setting a new standard for country racing in South Australia.
Thomas Farms - Naming Rights
In 2023, Murray Bridge Racing Club secured a five-year naming rights partnership with Thomas Foods International. The racecourse is now proudly known as Thomas Farms Racecourse Murray Bridge, reflecting the strong local ties and shared community values between the Club and one of South Australia’s largest family-owned food businesses.
This partnership enhances the Club’s ability to invest in infrastructure and community events, ensuring a vibrant future for racing in the region.

No, owners whose horses are engaged on race day do not require a separate mounting yard pass. Access to the mounting yard is included with your owner's ticket, which provides entry to the racecourse and access to the Members' facilities.
Absolutely! We host family-oriented events with kids’ entertainment and facilities to ensure a great day out for all ages.
Yes, we offer a range of food and beverage options including licensed bars, casual dining, and food stalls on racedays. Our beverage selection is proudly supplied exclusively by Carlton United Breweries and Schweppes, featuring popular products such as Carlton Draught, Great Northern, Pirate Life and Schweppes mixers. We focus on these quality brands to ensure a great experience for all guests.
Outside of designated picnic areas, BYO food and drinks are generally not permitted. Please check event-specific guidelines on our website.

Getting Here
Escape the city and experience country racing at its best — just a short 50-minute drive from Adelaide’s CBD, the state-of-the-art Murray Bridge Racing Club at Gifford Hill is easy to get to and even easier to enjoy.
Take the South Eastern Freeway (Princess Highway).
Take the exit towards B55/Murray Bridge/Mannum from the Freeway and continue along Adelaide Road.
Turn right at Old Swanport Road and continue straight until you reach a roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout onto Brinkley Road.
Continue along Brinkley Road. The Murray Bridge Racecourse entry is approximately 1km along Brinkley Road on your right.
